DREAM-DOLLARS
And Madame de la Rue

Paris in the 1920's was a hotbed of occult and metaphysical activity, and Dream-Dollars gained a strong following in the public mainly due to the efforts of medium and mystic, Genvieve De La Rue. Mme De La Rue was an author of several books on occultism, spiritualism, and dream research, and was celebrated in spiritual and intellectual circles. After the Rescue Expedition of 1902, there was a brief interest in the artifacts from Nadiria, but it soon died down. Mme De La Rue, however, had a keen interested in the discoveries from Nadiria, and was instrumental in the recovery and reconstruction of Dream-Dollars. She and her followers did seminal dream research with the Dollars, and wrote several books on the methods and uses of Dream-Dollars.

In 1922, Mme De La Rue's group, The International Metascience Society, salvaged many records and artifacts from the 1902 Rescue Expedition and preserved them. Without her efforts, it is very likely that many, if not most, of the records from Nadiria would have been lost or destroyed. A period of intense study of the Nadiria artifacts resulted in a blossom of knowledge about the Lost Colony. While previous studies of the records were

primarily focussed on the cause of the disappearance of the colonists, the Society was interested in the metaphysical knowledge gained and espoused by the Lost Colony. Much wisdom and knowledge was recovered and preserved for future generations, including the famed Codex Celastrus, penned by Samuel Brundt.

The International Metascience Society (IMS) had an especially strong interest in dream research. Their exploration on the use of Dream-Dollars in dream research was extensive and enlightening. Mme De La Rue developed an entire system on how to use the Dream-Dollars to "seed" your dreams - that is, to use the Dollars in various combinations in order to generate dreams that you want to have that night. She discovered Constance Brundt's own work in dream seeding, and extended it to a new level. It was Constance that first created the technique of seeding dreams with the Dollars, but apparently she was the only one who practiced the technique, perhaps because of her position as the "Dream Prophetess" of Nadiria. Constance Brundt did however carefully monitor the dreams of the colonists to see how daily use of the Dollars affected their dreams. She also left behind a number of journals and diaries that described her technique in sufficient detail so that Mme De La Rue could pick up the torch and keep it going.

While Constance Brundt kept the dream-seeding techniques to herself, Mme De La Rue employed many metaphysical students in her society to conduct extensive research in dream seeding. These experiments were carefully monitored and annotated, providing clinical data on dream research and seeding with Dream-Dollars. After more than a decade of research, De La Rue published a book, Light Within Darkness, Techniques of Interior Interrogation (Paris, 1934), detailing an exhaustive method for dream-seeding with Dream-Dollars from Nadiria. In it she describes the various types of dreams that can be seeded: Healing Dreams, Decisive Dreams, Puzzle Dreams, and Exploratory Dreams. Healing Dreams are where you can have a dream with healing imagery, emotions, or information for yourself or for someone else. Decisive Dreams are those where you can tap into your deepest desires and motivations to help in important decision-making. Puzzle Dreams are where you set your dreams to a task of solving a particular problem or creative challenge, using the resources of your subconscious to find the solution. Finally, Exploratory Dreams are those where you can delve deep into your subconscious and discover the workings of your mind and "Inner Self."

The International Metascience Society pioneered many esoteric studies, which were drawn largely from the records salvaged from Nadiria. Mme De La Rue's extensive dream research, however, was the cornerstone of the Society's vast accumulated knowledge and wisdom. Light Within Darkness, formerly a primer for all serious dreamers, is now largely a mystery. Most of the copies printed have been lost. The Nadiria Historical Society is diligently working to find all extant copies of the book, translate them into English, and make the book available to the modern students of dreaming.
